If I had to list the best resorts I have ever stayed at, La Residencia in Deia, Mallorca would be at the top of my list.
From the moment that I arrived on property until I was leaving on my last day, everything about my stay was perfect.

Mallorca is one of Spain’s Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean and is located off of the east coast of Spain. The island is known for its beautiful beaches and coastline, limestone mountains, nightlife, history and wineries. There is something for everyone on this island!
Deia is an idyllic coastal village tucked away in the northern mountainside. It’s known for its wide array of artistic residents. The privacy and tranquility also attracts high profile clientele to the area.
The resort is located between the Tramuntana Mountains and the beautiful coast of the Mediterranean Sea.

La Residencia was formerly owned by Sir Richard Branson and is now part of the Belmond Collection.
The resort is open seasonally from March to October due to the weather. The summer tends to be around 80 degrees while the winters get down to about 50 degrees – making it far more enjoyable in the summer months.
I was in awe from the moment we pulled up to the property. You are immediately introduced to the citrus orchards and olive groves that are scattered throughout the property.
The beautiful stone gate and streets have the old world charm that I love so much about Europe.
Our private transportation was arranged through the resort. Upon arrival, we were escorted from the vehicle to the main building for check-in. During this time, our luggage was brought directly to our rooms.
The lobby is cozy and inviting and the seamless check-in process had us in our accommodations in no time at all.
Across from the main building is an outdoor sitting area within a citrus grove.
This was the perfect place to enjoy a coffee in the morning or a cocktail in the evening before dinner. The large grassy area is also where fitness classes such as yoga or Taekwondo are held in the mornings.
Want to bring home a reminder of this beautiful place? Using its very own olives and oranges, the resort bottles its own exclusive olive oil and orange marmalade. Both are available for purchase in the main building and make for perfect souvenirs.
The ground are absolutely immaculate.
Every nook and cranny holds a surprise such as these potted citrus trees and cacti.
I stayed in a Junior Suite during my stay and it was absolutely perfect. The room was spacious (at nearly 1,000 square feet), was beautifully decorated and was the perfect retreat after long days of exploring the island.
Accommodations range from rooms with one Queen bed all the way up to Villas with their own private pools.
All stays include daily bottled water, WiFi, use of the fitness facilities and daily breakfast for two.
The nightly turn down service was amazing. Each evening, when I would return from dinner, the room would be ready for relaxation.
The television would be on and brochures would be on the bed with the activity schedule for the following day.
The mini bar would be open with a fresh bucket of ice for a night cap.
Each night, the bath would be drawn with amazing scented bubble bath. The bathmat would be laid out next to the huge jetted tub with a pair of slippers ready.
Every detail was well thought-out and perfect.
This restaurant is where you will enjoy your complimentary breakfast each morning. The bright and airy restaurant overlooks the pool area and includes a mix of traditionally European breakfast items as well as hot dishes made to order.
The orange juice and orange marmalade are made fresh from the resorts citrus groves and can’t be missed. The fresh squeezed orange juice will be the best you have ever had!
I enjoyed a delicious tapas dinner at this restaurant. They have an extensive cocktail and wine menu and many of the best tapas that Spain has to offer.
Enjoy your evening at one of their outdoor tables overlooking Deia or sit inside the beautifully decorated, rustic restaurant. Lit mostly by candlelight in the evenings and offering a pianist on the patio, this romantic restaurant will not disappoint.
I highly recommend one of the Tasting Menus with wine pairing. Some of the dishes included Tuna Carpaccio, Mediterranean Sea Bass with Sea Urchin Sauce, Mallorcan Lamb with Rosemary Sauce, and a Caramel Cannelloni with White Chocolate Mousse and Passion Fruit Sorbet. Everything was outstanding.
The pool bar offers a wide selection of cocktails along with an extensive salad bar. They also have an a la carte menu of pizzas and sandwiches.
I arrived at the resort mid-afternoon after a flight from Madrid and needed something to get me through until dinner. What better way to begin my stay than delicious room service with the perfect view from the patio of my Suite.
La Residencia was everything that I had hoped it would be plus so much more! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a Mallorcan vacation.

Direct flights from Madrid to Palma de Mallorca are only about 1 hour and 20 minutes. There are many direct flights throughout the day and you can easily find round trip tickets for less than $200 per person.
Once you arrive at the airport, the drive to the resort takes around 45 minutes. La Residencia can assist you in booking private car service and taxi or bus service are available as well.
Included with your stay at the resort, enjoy a 2-hour boat cruise on the Mediterranean. Enjoy the cliffside views and hidden coves of the coast line while going for a swim.
The outdoor pool overlooking the mountains is stunning and tranquil.
If the weather isn’t favorable, there is also an indoor pool to enjoy which is located in the same building as the spa.
Wander through the properties olive groves with two of the donkeys that call La Residencia home. Halfway through the walk, enjoy a picnic lunch that has been set up at a stone shepard’s hut.
While enjoying some of the delicious flavors of Spain, learn how to make pan con tomate and end the perfect picnic with Ensaimada de Mallorca (a custard filled dessert bread) and sip on Tunel de Mallorca (an herb liquor made with rosemary, chamomile, mint, fennel and marjoram).
Have some time to yourself while your kids enjoy time at the onsite kids club. Cooking classes, pottery workshops and tennis lessons are all activities that the kids club offers to give parents time to relax!
The resort can also arrange for babysitting services with certified, trained nannies!
