Summertime Strawberry Jam Cocktail

Every summer, my family heads over to our local orchard and picks quarts upon quarts of strawberries.

Once we have finished our picking (and eating!), we make Strawberry Freezer Jam. It’s a yearly tradition that can’t be missed.

These fresh strawberries make some of my favorite desserts ever like strawberry shortcake and strawberry rhubarb pie.

Besides using this jam for the best toast, have you ever tried making strawberry jam cocktails?

Freezer Jam is made with only strawberries, pectin and sugar. Unlike regular jam, this version stored in the freezer (as the name implies) rather than being canned to be shelf stable.

Skipping the cooking process and storing it in the freezer keeps it tasting like fresh strawberries all year long.

Although I make this cocktail with freezer jam, you could also use any high quality strawberry jam.

This cocktail tastes like summer in a cup. It’s sweet, refreshing and tastes just like fresh strawberries.

This drink best when served as a martini but you can also be serve it on the rocks. To lighten it up a bit, top your cocktail off with club soda or sparkling strawberry juice!

I found this Sparkling Strawberry Juice at Trader Joes and it’s delicious and perfect for this cocktail.

For a less sweet drink, feel free to substitute fresh lime juice for the sweetened lime juice.

How to Make Strawberry Jam Cocktails

Begin by chilling your martini glass. Add ice into the glass and fill with cold water. Set aside.

In cocktail shaker with ice, combine coconut rum, strawberry jam and sweetened lime juice.

Place the top on the shaker and shake for 20 – 30 seconds to completely chill the ingredients.

Next, pour out the ice water from the martini glass.

Strain the cocktail into the chilled martini glass and top with a sliced strawberry or a lime wedge.

To make into a cocktail on the rocks, pour strawberry jam, sweetened lime juice and coconut rum into tall highball glass that is filled with ice. Stir all of the ingredients until combined. Top the cocktail with club soda or sparkling strawberry juice from Trader Joes.
