My sister and her (now) husband fell in love with New Orleans after a few visits and knew it would be the perfect location for a destination wedding. Here are a few of the details of their unforgettable wedding day!
These beautiful Tiffany & Co. earrings were the perfect pre-wedding gift from the groom to his bride.
District Donuts made the perfect lunch while everyone was preparing for the big day.
The wedding ceremony was held in the courtyard of the beautiful wedding venue, Il Mercato.
It wouldn’t be a New Orleans wedding without a Second Line!
As the wedding guests were taking part in the Second Line, the entire courtyard was transformed into the cocktail reception area.
The wedding couple’s dogs, Monster & Gator, made an appearance on the cocktail hour napkins and drink stirrers!
The drinks were flowing during the cocktail hour but the passed hors d’ouevres were the highlight.
Guests enjoyed some New Orleans favorites such as Blue Crab Beignets, Sweet Corn Blini’s with Pulled Pork, Petite Fried Green Tomatoes, Smoked Duck and Greens Gumbo and Mini Caramelized Onion and Prosciutto Tarts.
Following the courtyard cocktail hour, guests moved into the main building of Il Mercato for the reception.
The dinner gave guests the option to try many different dishes with various food stations within the reception area. This included a Fried Chicken Station accompanied by cornbread and toppings like honey butter, whipped goat cheese, peach compote, fig preserves and spicy blackberry syrup.
The Grits Station allowed guests to top their cheesy grits with either barbequed shrimp or beef braised in red wine.
The last station brought together some Louisiana Classics such as Cochon de Lait served with homemade rolls, White Cheddar Macaroni and Cheese, Mini Shrimp Remoulade Po-Boys and a Fresh Spinach Salad.
The perfect way to end the night? A late-night snack of Bananas Foster. Guests were treated to a live action Bananas Foster station in the courtyard.
