New Orleans already has the reputation of being a wild party city so it’s no surprise that bachelor and bachelorette parties are common there. You are bound to bump into many groups celebrating the exact same thing!

But if you aren’t wanting to spend every day on Bourbon Street, check out how we spent the weekend celebrating this bachelorette party.

When my sister and her (now) husband decided that they wanted to have a destination wedding in New Orleans, it made the planning extra easy.

Since we’ve been to New Orleans a few times already, we knew all the fun spots we would want to hit up for the bachelorette party!

Their friends and family would be coming to the wedding from all across the U.S., so they decided to have their bachelor/bachelorette parties just a couple of days prior to the big day.

It was bound to be a fun week!

Manicures & Pedicures

Of course we needed to start the week out looking our finest, so manicures and pedicures were first on our to-do list!

We made our way over to Nail Bar Nola for our reservations. The staff here were extremely friendly and they all did a great job. The salon is bright, clean and was the perfect place to start our week of festivities!

In true New Orleans fashion, complimentary drinks are served during your services and included prosecco, mimosas, sparkling water and more.

Sight Seeing

You have to do a little sight seeing while here! After our manicures and pedicures, we took the opportunity to see a few things while guests were still arriving for the big week.

Only in New Orleans to party? Skip the next couple of suggestions.

Take a stroll through Jackson Square for some beignets at Café du Monde. See what your future holds by having your cards read by one of the vendors set up in the park.

Not visiting during Mardi Gras? Spend a couple of hours at Mardi Gras World to check out how the parade floats are built and see some of the most popular floats on display!

You’ll also get to taste a piece of king cake and have plenty of fun photo ops during this tour!

The National WWII Museum is also located in New Orleans and just happens to be my favorite museum of all time. Without a doubt, this museum is worth taking the time to see.

While it’s big enough to spend all day at, a few hours will also give you enough time to see some of their best exhibits.

Pool Party

A must for the house we rented for the week? An awesome pool area.

With the heat and humidity New Orleans has to offer, a pool is a must have!

If you are booking a hotel, make sure they have a pool too!

We had a fun pool party, complete with more floaties that could fit in the pool, cannon balls, catering from The Joint and lots of cold drinks.

The pool floats included a flamingo, a swan, an engagement ring, a rose bottle and even little baby flamingo drink holders!

I made lemon Jell-O shots and tropical “adult” ice pops.

We also had prosecco on ice and lots of cocktails and hard seltzers on hand.

There were favor bags for the bridesmaids/bridesmen with linen pool towels, sunscreen, scrunchies, Bum Bum Cream, hair ties, sarongs and matching swimsuits.

Extra items were put together in a basket for other guests who forgot something, like koozies, sunscreen, towels and more!

Happy Hour

After a nice little nap, we freshened up and made our way out on the town. First up? A hurricane at Pat O’Brien’s. This is the birthplace of them, after all. They are ridiculously strong, filled with sugar and absolutely necessary.

After this, we made our way next door to Preservation Hall for one of their evening shows. This historic jazz hall is the perfect place to enjoy an intimate concert.

Be warned, this area is small and there is no air conditioning. It does get quite stuffy but it is well worth it (in my opinion). Only 100 tickets are sold for each show and at least half of those are for standing room only.

Side note. If you are looking to just be rowdy and wild, this isn’t the place to go. But if you want to get into that New Orleans spirit, check out one of these short shows to hear some real New Orleans jazz!

Other cool places to check out for a little bar hopping include:

The Carousel Bar & Lounge at Hotel Monteleone – where you can sit on an actual revolving merry-go-round while enjoying cocktails and small bites.

Enjoy a craft cocktail at Cane & Table, served alongside some delicious Cuban cuisine.

Other honorable mentions? Try out SoBou, The Bombay Club or Broussard’s.

Drag Brunch at the The Country Club

The food was delicious, the cocktails were strong, service was great and the entertainment was top notch!

We had the chicken & waffles, truffle mac & cheese, curry & crab bisque, fried green tomatoes and crab cakes benedict. We washed it all down with a few pitchers of peach belinis.

Although our group sat inside, this awesome restaurant also has a pool within their courtyard. This is another great place to enjoy the drag brunch from especially if your hotel or rental doesn’t have a pool!

As with most of the places we went to on this trip, make sure to have reservations! And don’t forget those dollar bills.

Swamp Boat Tour

It wouldn’t be a trip to Louisiana without a swamp boat tour of the bayou.

We grabbed our camo, loaded up our coolers and jumped on our party bus to the swamp.

We put together these fun fanny packs for our swamp tour in the bayou. They included sunglasses, a koozie, jerky, travel size sun screen, mini bottle of vodka and nuts.

They even had baby gators for us to hold!

Bachelorette Dinner

We had the official bachelorette party dinner at Tableau – a classic French & Creole restaurant located right in Jackson Square. We booked a private room on the second floor of the restaurant that was perfect – it even had a private balcony overlooking the courtyard!

Although the service and hospitality throughout New Orleans is typically top-notch, I must say that working with this restaurant was lovely. The events coordinator that I worked with was excellent and so easy to work with. The whole planning process was incredibly easy.

We put together all of the décor ourselves. The tables had black tablecloths, floral centerpieces, black candles and various skulls.

For the place settings, we used gold chargers, sage smudge sticks, a menu card and an envelope containing their drink tickets.

The drink tickets were even printed on tarot cards!

I made “Advice & Wishes” cards to go along with a Fujifilm Instax camera and gold pens.

People always tend to write funny things after a drink or two and these make for great keepsakes for the bride to be!

In keeping with the New Orleans theme, there were plenty of skulls, crystal balls, candles and more!

The flower arrangements were supplemented with black feather accents to match the décor.
