I love gyros. I ate them every chance I had when I was vacationing in Athens. At home, I always try to recreate the flavors from our travels. These Greek lamb burgers bring together all of those delicious flavors to remind me of that amazing trip!

The lamb burgers are jammed packed with all of the familiar flavors of gyro meat. I like to serve them on soft naan and top with fresh lettuce, tomato, red onion and tzatziki. This recipe is great for your next BBQ!

Because lamb can have a bit of a gamey flavor, I like to use a mix of half ground beef and half ground lamb. This will also save on costs – lamb can be pricey!
Homemade tzatziki is delicious and makes for a great appetizer but if you are looking to save time, most grocery stores sell a pre-made option too!

ground meat such as lamb, beef, pork or veal
garlic
red pepper flakes
salt & pepper
fresh herbs such as chives, dill, thyme, oregano & parsley
tomato
lettuce
red onion
naan
tzatziki sauce (click here for my recipe)
In a medium mixing bowl, combine your ground meat, salt, pepper, red pepper flakes and chopped herbs. Mix until just combined. Form into patties and set aside.
Using a grill pan or outdoor grill, sear your burgers until they are the desired doneness.
Warm naan on the grill pan or grill until golden.
To serve, place a burger on the bottom slice of naan. Top with lettuce, sliced tomatoes & onions and tzatziki sauce.
Top the burger with another piece of naan.
Enjoy!
