If you have ever been to Hawaii, chances are you have tried this delicious treat. The first time I had these was on a vacation in Maui. Furikake fries with wasabi mayo are a popular snack throughout the islands.

I like to make both wasabi mayo and spicy mayo when making these. The dipping sauces go perfectly with these fries. The combination is salty and spicy and best enjoyed with an ice cold Japanese beer or tropical cocktail!
I don’t often fry foods at home but these really are best when they are extra crispy. For a healthier version, try baking or air frying your fries!

FOR THE FRIES
1 1/2 pound bag of frozen, house cut fries
vegetable oil (for frying)
2 tbsp. melted butter
1 tsp. garlic, finely minced
2 tbsp. Furikake seasoning
FOR THE WASABI MAYO
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tbsp. wasabi paste
FOR THE SPICY MAYO
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tbsp. sriracha hot sauce
1 pinch of sugar
Begin by making your dipping sauces.
In small bowl, combine your mayonnaise and wasabi paste. Stir until smooth. Set aside.
In another small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sriracha hot sauce and pinch of sugar. Stir until smooth. Set aside.
Next, cook your fries. Fry, air fry or bake your fries according to the packaging.
While fries are cooking, melt butter in a small saucepan. Add garlic and cook over low heat for 1-2 minutes. Do not allow the garlic to brown.
Once fries are cooked through and crispy, drain and place them in a large bowl. Drizzle the melted garlic butter and furikake seasoning over the fries. Toss with tongs until they are coated.
Place fries on serving platter and sprinkle with more of the furikake seasoning. Serve with your wasabi and spicy mayo dipping sauces.
Enjoy!
