A Ferdinand Birthday Party

When my son’s second birthday came around, we were watching the movie Ferdinand regularly. So when I asked him what kind of birthday party he would like to have, I wasn’t surprised at all with his answer. A Ferdinand birthday party of course!

It was fairly difficult to find decor that matched the theme so I opted for a more Spanish themed party – very loosely based on Ferdinand.

The Decorations

In the main party area, I used bright paper flowers, a wooden ‘hola’ sign and pink streamers to decorate.

The kids table was decorated with faux cactus and succulents in mason jars of sand. I had little black bull statues from some of my travels to Spain that I also used on the tables.

For the adults table, I found these cute cactus table runners and used cactus plants that we already had in our house!

The cups were a mix of acrylic tumblers.

The Food

We had a Spanish style lunch that included a meat and cheese plate, paella, garlic shrimp, fresh fruit, and more!

A much more simple menu would work just as well. I went a little fancier with the menu this time since it was mostly adults at the party.

For dessert, our favorite local bakery made the cake, cupcakes and cookies.

The cake had two layers – cookies & cream and funfetti.

The cupcakes were covered in buttercream succulents and the sugar cookies were decorated to match!

The Gift Bags

The gift bags consisted of a packet of flower seeds (Ferdinand loves his flowers!), a kids gardening shovel, and birthday cake flavored cookies.

The kids filled in their goodie bags with candy from to piñata too!

The Activities

Because all of the kids were so young, we kept it simple. The kids played in the playroom while watching Ferdinand on TV.

At the end of the party we had a cactus piñata for the kids to crack open and put the candy in their gift bags.

Everything worked out perfectly and Luca had such a great time celebrating his birthday with family and friends!

This tent, cactus pillows and wood pillows were items that we already had but went with the theme!

Love that the theme is different and the cookies and cupcakes are delightful! Have you put any of your posts in link parties yet?
