Visiting Magnolia Table in Waco, Texas

How could you possibly go see the Silos but not stop at Magnolia Table for breakfast or lunch? Here is why visiting Magnolia Table in Waco, Texas is a must do!

I’ve had the chance to visit Waco twice now and each time I made sure to make it to Magnolia Table for breakfast. It never disappoints!

Visiting Magnolia Table

Magnolia Table occupies the former Elite Café which closed in 2016. The famous design duo Chip and Joanna Gaines completely renovated the historic restaurant and Magnolia Table opened its doors in the spring of 2018.

The drive from both Dallas and Austin is about an hour and a half. If you aren’t able to go for more than one day, a day trip from either city is doable.

I would highly recommend grabbing breakfast or lunch at this restaurant if you are in the area. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. It’s exactly what you would expect from Chip and Jojo!

The crowd at the restaurant was a mix of locals, families and plenty of tourists (of course!). The staff were all very accommodating, especially for children. They were always willing to help with whatever we might need.

Coffee Shop & Waiting Area

When you arrive, get yourself checked-in at the hostess booth. The restaurant uses a text messaging system to let you know when your table is ready. Even though we needed to wait a short time for our table, the time went by quickly.

We grabbed a coffee at the coffee shop in the waiting area and played lawn Jenga. They have a good amount of sitting room in the waiting area. They even have heaters to keep you warm during the colder Texas days.

Another nice feature of their check-in system is the link that you are sent to find out where you are on the waiting list. This can be helpful to know how long you are going to have to wait so you don’t need to stay onsite if it is going to be a while!

The restaurant now allows for a limited amount of reservations each day. The rules are quite strict. For example, reservations can only be for Monday – Thursday, party size can’t be larger than six, can’t be made more than two weeks in advance, etc..

Despite the rules, this is still great for small groups that are looking to plan ahead and cut down their waiting time.

Because we arrived really early each day, we didn’t have to wait for more than 30 minutes each time. I’ve heard that if you plan on dining at their peak time (between 12pm – 2pm), you should plan on waiting at least 2 hours for a table, especially if it is the weekend!

The Food

For being as busy as they are, the food was surprisingly good. It was really good actually. The portions are large, making it impossible to leave here hungry.

We’ve tried the Lemon Lavender Donut Holes, Avocado Toast, Farm Breakfast, French Toast, Pancakes, House BLT, Banana Cream Pie and more.

I’ve been to the restaurant on two separate occasions and really enjoyed everything that I tried.

I would highly recommend the (infamous) Avocado Toast and the Biscuits with Sausage Gravy but you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

This is comfort food at its finest.

The Décor

The restaurant is just as cute in person as you can imagine. All of the details throughout the restaurant are perfect, even down to the salted caramels that you receive with your check.

The restaurant is bright & inviting with Joanna’s design style – ship lap, wrought iron, tile detailing and leather.

Take Away + Market

Located in the same building as the restaurant, you will find the Take Away + Market. Here you can purchase all of the table items from the restaurant (mugs, water pitchers, salt & pepper shakers, etc.), shirts, food items and more.

This is a great place to grab a quick breakfast or lunch if you don’t have time to wait for a table in the restaurant. Don’t forget to get souvenirs to take home!

I was flying home the day of my visit and picked up some food items for my friends and family to enjoy back home. You can find some of their most popular restaurant menu items here such as the strawberry butter, chicken salad and pimento cheese.

Parking

I didn’t have a problem finding parking for either of my visits but I also visited early in the morning each time. The restaurant shares parking with a few other businesses so you may need to circle around until a spot opens up.
