Valentine’s Night With Kids

Valentine’s Night tends to look a little different once you have kids. That doesn’t mean you can’t still do something fun! Here is a look at home we spend Valentine’s Night with our kids.

Ever since our oldest child was born, I’ve made sure to plan a fun night-in with our kids each year. Every year tends to look a little different but one thing always stays the same; there is always chocolate fondue!

Another tradition we’ve done every year? The kids wake up to heart balloons in their room; one heart balloon for each year. It’s a fun picture to look back on, showing them growing up as their bunch of balloons gets larger and larger with each new year.

Gift Baskets for Kids

I always make little gift baskets for the kids to make them feel special. They are typically a mix of toys, snacks and books. Many of the items can be found at the Dollar Store!

This year the baskets consist of reusable heart straws, pink Play-Doh, Valentine’s Ring Pops, a Beanie Boo Pink Flamingo and a Beanie Boo Owl, Love Bird Legos, Burt’s Bees Chapstick, heart hair clips, Hugs & Kisses chocolates, cookie cutters, a wooden Tic Tac Toe game and various other items!

Here are some of my favorite items for this Valentine’s Day! We are especially excited to start doing some of the challenges from our new The Adventure Challenge – Family Edition book.

This book has 50 scratch-off family adventures and then it becomes a fun, family keepsake book once all of your challenges have been completed!

Each challenge in the book comes with a spot to place a photo of everyone completing the challenge. The white Fujifilm Instax Mini is perfect for snapping the pics of our fun memories!

Valentine’s Day Books

This year, the kids are getting the books I Love You All Year Through, How to Catch a Loveosaurus (Target exclusive) and The Invisible String.

Other books that we already have and love to read this time of the year are I Love You as Big as the World, Llama llama I Love You, Next to You, Love and Happy Valentine’s Day Mouse.

Gift Baskets For Adults

This Pura Vida Heart Bracelet and Heart Ring are so cute.

I also love the Adventure Challenge Couples Edition! This book is filled with fun date night ideas – including some that can be done right at home! This book is a fun way to connect with your loved one and create a fun memory book at the same time!

Mimosa sugar cubes are always a hit. Just add one cube to a glass of sparkling wine or prosecco for an instant cocktail.

How about a romantic novel? Nicholas Sparks just released his newest book, The Wish, last year!

For a home spa day, a facial steamer would be perfect.

Activities

From a classic movie night to make your own pizza or even a stars and constellations picnic, there are plenty of fun things to do at home to make your night special!

Valentine’s Day is the perfect night to make an extra special dessert and we always choose chocolate fondue. We’ve been using our fondue set for years and it makes it feel like we are enjoying a fun dessert out at a restaurant! Some of our favorites are pound cake, rice krispy treats, pretzels, brownie bites, strawberries, pineapple and bananas!

These fun mocktails make the kids feel all grown up. For these, I just used the sparkling strawberry juice from Trader Joe’s. The garnish was a white cotton candy “cloud” and a cupids arrow toothpick with a heart gummy.

For the adult’s cocktails, I simply added chilled vanilla vodka to the sparkling strawberry juice!
