Do you have a little one obsessed with Pokémon like we do? We have a solid mix of dinosaurs and Pokémon in the house now but when it came to what he wanted for his birthday, a Pokémon birthday party won by a landslide!

When my son starting watching Pokémon on Netflix, I had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. It seems that with the 25th anniversary of Pokémon in 2021, came a new wave of interest. The toys and cards were sold out everywhere and I found myself checking countless stores to try to find ANYTHING that I could use for his party.

Luckily, the craze has died down a bit and I was able to find a few things.

The Decorations

I found this pokeball piñata at Party City and filled it with all of his favorite candies.

Carnivine is a Pokémon that resembles a Venus Fly Trap so I found these Venus Fly Traps to use as part of the table décor. After the party, we planted them in a terrarium for Earth Day!

I purchased these cute prints on Amazon and used basic white frames to display them on the table. These will come in handy if we change his room décor to Pokémon!

The Favors

I found these clear & red balls at Party City in the candy aisle. I made them into Poke balls using crafting foam. Each one contained Pokémon cards, tattoos, masks and snacks.

The Food

The cake was made by a local baker. If you are in the San Diego area, check out Sweet Revenge Bakery. The cake was Oreo flavor with Oreo filling and was absolutely delicious!

Luckily, it was easy to come up with food that fits the theme.

For the pizza, I made it easy on myself and ordered a cheese pizza. To transform it into a pokeball, I used pepperoni and basil leaves.

For the pasta, I used penne with red sauce on one side and penne with alfredo sauce on the other side. The middle was a bowl of parmesan cheese.

For the fruit, I used pineapple, bananas, blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and watermelon with a yogurt fruit dip.

My sons favorite Pokemon is Charizard so for a drink I made Charizard Punch using blue Hawaiian Punch, sprite and mango sherbet!

The Craft

An easy craft are these Pokémon sun catchers. For these, I used self laminating sheets, tissue paper, black & white crafting foam, and glue.

To make, I cut the tissue paper into small squares. Place the squares on the sticky side of the self laminating sheets, using the red squares on the top and the white squares on the bottom. Once complete, have an adult cut into a circle.

Using the crafting foam, glue a strip of black along the middle of the pokeball with a black circle and a small, white circle. Once dried, tape into a window and enjoy your sun catcher!
