Our Simple & Modern Gender Reveal Party

Check out this post on our gender reveal party!

When we became pregnant with our first child, we decided that we weren’t going to find out the sex. This proved to make the planning process slightly more difficult.

After getting through a long ten months of pregnancy followed by labor, I couldn’t wait to find out. It was so worth it in the end and exciting to wait all of that time to be surprised!

Years later, with our second child, we decided to do the opposite. We wanted to find out ahead of time and then have a gender reveal party to surprise our family and friends.

Check out some of the details of our simple & modern gender reveal party!

To make it special, we knew that we wanted it to be just the three of us when we first found out. My husband mentioned that we should wait until Christmas morning to find out. Decision made!

When our 20 week ultrasound came around, we asked our ultrasound tech to keep the secret! She printed one of our ultrasound pictures and sealed it in an envelope with a note. We opened it on Christmas morning to reveal the “It’s a girl!” note!

Our gender reveal party was still a few weeks away and it was extremely difficult keeping the secret! Our family and friends were all very surprised so we were happy to have kept the secret. There was screaming, happy tears and confetti. Lots of pink confetti!

In the end, I was happy that we decided to try out both options because they were equally exciting – just in different ways!

Check out some of the details below!

The Décor & Favors

Overall, we were going for a very simple, clean look. The flower arrangements were white tulips that I purchased at our local grocery store. The white balloon garland was easy to put together and made for the perfect backdrop for the reveal.

Our fireplace had onesies hung with mini clothes pins. For the actual reveal, I purchased confetti poppers. These worked perfectly! All of the confetti was easy to clean up (we decided to do our reveal inside due to the weather). To end the event, each guest received mini succulent as a favor.

The Games

We played ‘Guess the Baby Food’, ‘What’s in Your Phone?’ and ‘How Long is Each Animal Pregnant?’. The prizes consisted of various boxes of chocolate truffles, bottles of wine, reusable coffee cups from Starbucks, and home spa kits.

In the end, everyone had a great time playing the games, especially ‘Guess the Baby Food’. I didn’t choose any flavors that were too crazy and the guests were surprised at how hard it was to guess what it was!

The Food & Cake

The menu consisted of various finger foods and appetizers. This included, Caprese skewers, sandwiches, chips, fruit, and more.

For dessert we had mini banana cream pie, macaroons, chocolate chip cookies with mini milk jars and cake. These were a party guest favorite!

Our cake was covered in marble fondant with a gold accent. The cake was made by Cake Placid in Lake Placid, New York!

Overall, we loved how our gender reveal party turned out and we were so happy to be able to share our exciting news with friends & family!
