One of my favorite summer activities is camping. It brings back so many childhood memories of summers well spent. It’s the perfect way to disconnect, relax and enjoy the company of those that you are with.

That being said…

Camping on an air mattress in a tent with a toddler and an infant (after spending hours setting up our campsite), is not one of my favorite summer activities.

Glamping is the best of both worlds! Being able to arrive to a campground with a tent that is already set up and a bed that won’t have to be re-inflated throughout the night? Priceless.

Adirondack Safari

Each year, Adirondack Safari sets up at the Warren County Fairgrounds in Warrensburg, New York. Located just ten minutes from all the fun of Lake George, your options for activities aren’t just limited to what is offered at the camp ground (although that would be plenty on its own).

The location itself has restrooms, multiple showers, a small store and an area to wash your dishes. All of the tents are set-up around the main pavilion, where all of the daily activities take place.

They have 40 tents available, ranging from a one queen bed tent for two people up to a three queen bed tent for six people. We stayed in a tent with two queens beds, which allowed us to have all of our bags on the second bed.

The tent also had two sitting chairs, a fan, nightstands with lamps, a storage bench that contained extra blankets and a power strip was available to charge cell phones.

Each campsite has a covered picnic table area, charcoal grill, zero gravity chairs, a fire pit and solar lighting.

It was so convenient just being able to show up and have everything ready and waiting for us!

Prices at this glamping location range from $159 per night up to $309 per night.

Activities

This place made me feel like I was back at summer camp again! The main pavilion was set up with games like Ping Pong, Connect 4, various board games and nightly bingo.

Each night of the week also has additional entertainment such as Native American Performances, painting classes, a silent disco, outdoor movies and even a blue grass band.

The kids were having a hard time staying awake for the Silent Disco so we decided to make our way back to our tent.

Luckily, the owner delivered glow sticks and head phones right to our tent and we had our very own silent disco in our pajamas.

This was the highlight of the trip for our son!

We took advantage of all of the activities that were offered during our stay and we were so happy that we did. We had so much fun.

During the day you can go fishing (although you have to bring your own equipment), tube down the river in one of the complimentary river tubes, play volleyball or cornhole, rent a kayak and so much more.

Unfortunately, it was too cold for us to enjoy the river tubing and swimming but we did go fishing. Despite the camp ground being full while we were there, the river was calm and relaxing.

Food

For me, this is one of the best parts of camping.

I prep everything I possibly can before we leave; it makes things so much easier and quicker. Glamping requires some fancy food (in my opinion) but everything that we had was just as easy as burgers and hot dogs.

For breakfast, I premade breakfast sandwiches and wrapped them in foil. In the morning, we put them over the fire for about 15 minutes to warm up and we were good to go.

For lunch we had walking tacos. I made taco meat ahead of time and put it in a disposable pan which we warmed up over the fire.

The taco meat goes directly into the single serve bags of Fritos and then top with whatever you like.

We had cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream and salsa for toppings.

For dinner on the first night we had steak and corn. Both were cooked right on the grill and made for an extremely easy but delicious dinner.

Steak for dinner while glamping – excessive? Yes.

Awesome? Also yes.

On the next night we had grilled pizza and wings. We brought a precooked pizza crust, pizza sauce, cheese and pepperoni. This is a great meal for kids to help make and takes just a couple of minutes to cook.

When prepping our meals ahead of time, I tossed the chicken wings in olive oil, salt, pepper and garlic powder and put them in a well-sealed container.

They only took about 15 minutes to grill and then I tossed them in a sweet and sour sauce.

We go through a lot of popcorn in our house so camping popcorn is a must too!

We made popcorn over the fire (although the package also says to not heat these over the fire so do so at your own risk!).

I used these Jiffy Pop containers, but they also make these campfire popcorn makers too!

Dessert

It wouldn’t be camping without s’mores. Double marshmallow is the way to go.

We also made S’more Snack Mix for the road trip to get there!

If you are looking for a less-messy version of s’mores, try out these hand held s’mores!

Just put mini marshmallows and chocolate chips into individual bags of Teddy Grahams.

Next, put the bags near the campfire for about 5 minutes to allow the marshmallows and chocolate chips to melt.

Of course, we needed to try out cinnamon rolls over the fire. For this, we just used a can of cinnamon rolls and cooked them using a s’mores stick.

In order to keep them from burning, you will need to spend about 10 minutes keeping them away from direct heat.

Once cooked through and not doughy in the middle, top with icing.

These were good and it was fun to try out a new camping snack!

That was our glamping trip in a nut shell! We had so much fun and can’t wait to go again sometime.

Glamping is becoming more and more popular with new locations popping up all over the world.

The convenience is great (especially with two kids), and it’s an activity that everyone in the family will love.
