Decorate them to be as spooky (or not!) as you would like.
These Oreo dirt cups are a fun dessert for a Halloween party at school or daycare. You could also layer this dessert in a trifle dish for an at-home Halloween party!
1 boxed chocolate cake mix, baked according to package
2 (5.9 oz.) boxes instant chocolate pudding mix
5 cups milk
1 (8 oz.) container Cool Whip
1 package Oreo cookies (family size)
Decorations such as gummy worms, candy bones, gravestones, or ghosts
Wilton makes the gravestones, bones and ghosts that I purchased for decorating the tops.
I also found these cute mini shovel spoons to serve them with! Click here to purchase them!
This recipe will make one large trifle or about 16 individual sized treats.
Bake chocolate cake mix according to packaging. Allow to cool. Cut into 3/4″ cubes. Set aside.
Remove the cream filling from the Oreos and place the filling in a bowl. Set aside.
Put the cookies in a gallon size Ziploc bag.
Seal the Ziploc bag and crush the Oreo cookies using a mallet until they are in a fine crumble.
Using a stand mixer or hand held mixer, beat Oreo filling on low until smooth.
Add milk and pudding mix to the Oreo cream and beat on low until smooth.
Once your filling is completely smooth, remove bowl from mixer and fold in cool whip.
Begin layering items in your trifle dish or individual serving cups starting with pieces of chocolate cake followed by pudding.
Once you have two layers of chocolate cake and two layers of pudding, top each dessert with the crushed Oreos.
Decorate each dessert with a tombstone, bones, ghost, gummy worms or whatever decorations you would like.
Cover tightly and store in refrigerator for up to three days.
