If you are looking for a little inspiration for a Lion King birthday party, you are in the right spot. Many of these ideas would be great fun a jungle or safari party too.

Here are a few of my ideas for you to put together the perfect birthday party!
For the tables, I used faux succulents in vases of sand as the centerpieces. Each place setting was on rattan placemat with gold and palm leaf paper plates. I used wooden cutlery and palm leaf under each plate.
I love a balloon garland for most parties. It’s a fairly inexpensive way to make a big statement piece for the party. This garland was a kit that included the different colored balloons and also the tropical leaves.
Timon and Pumbaa’s snack of choice – bugs and grubs – end up being the food & drink theme!
I made this ‘swamp water’ by freezing plastic bugs into ice cube trays. You could also put these bug ice cubes in a green punch drink to make it extra swamp like!
As you can see from the pictures, I already had Lion Guard toys lying around the house and I utilized them as decor.
Using a simple cake stand, faux greenery and a few toys, turn ordinary juice boxes into a focal point of the tables.
These Pumbaa ‘wart dogs’ are classic pigs in a blanket that I dipped in everything bagel seasoning before baking.
Spinach artichoke dip makes an easy ‘Jungle Veggie Dip’. Serve with tortilla chips or toasted baguette slices.
A ‘mud bath’ chocolate dip will be popular with all of the kids! There are so many options of what to serve with this but I find that the best are brownie bites, pound cake, pineapple, strawberries, bananas and pretzels.
Our cake was funfetti with buttercream icing. The sugar cookies were made to look like bugs and grubs and were a great addition to the goodie bags as guests made their way home!
Since this party was for a one year old, this blow up Lion Guard ball pit was a great activity. It is great for small kids to crawl around in.
On a side note, it only includes 20 balls so make sure to purchase extra or it will end up looking bare like mine (face. in. palm.).
A great project for older kids is an art station to decorate a safari hat. For this project, you will need safari hats, paper or fabric leaves, various tapes and strings, pom poms, stickers, glue, and whatever else you might have that would look great on these hats.
The gift bags contained a reusable water bottle, pair of binoculars, snack and a kids National Geographic book – all in a canvas pull-string backpack.
Many of the ideas from this party could also be used for a jungle or safari themed party!
