With all of the subscription boxes out there, it can be hard to keep them all straight. I’ve tried quite a few out there but I just recently started receiving products from Imperfect Foods. Here is my honest Imperfect Foods review based off of the boxes I have received so far!

So what is Imperfect Foods anyway? It’s a company that sells food items that are deemed too “imperfect” to be sold in the typical grocery store!
Much like the company Misfits Market, Imperfect Foods strives to sell items that are considered unsellable at a conventional grocery store to cut back on food waste.
Some of the items may be blemished, too large or small for regular stores or they might just be surplus items. While shopping each week, clicking on each item will show you why it is considered to be imperfect.
Not only will you be helping the environment by shopping with Imperfect Foods, you are also helping create a better future for others too!
The company is working to help eliminate food waste while also making a social impact by donating to Feeding America and creating programs to offer discounted healthy food to many low income families.
So what’s the process? Once you sign up, they will assign you a weekly delivery date. Based on your delivery date you will also have a time to customize your box. For example, my boxes are delivered on Wednesday and I can begin to customize them the previous Friday!

Each week you will receive an email letting you know that it is time to customize your weekly delivery. Once you sign into your account, you will notice that they have already added a few items based on your preferences. From here you can either keep or remove the items that they have added and customize your shipment based on the availability that week. You can also skip the order if you would like!
The boxes arrived right on my doorstep within the shipping window I was provided.

I was really impressed with our first order! Everything came packaged really well and we loved nearly all of the items that we received. The only items that we wouldn’t order again were the red bell peppers and the YES bar.
My husband didn’t really care for the taste of the YES bar (personal preference). Although the red bell peppers were listed as small on the site, they were actually REALLY small and the skin was tough.

I was less impressed with the packaging of the second shipment. It actually came packaged in two boxes – one was packed full (too full) and the other was half empty. A few of the items (including the broccoli, Mahi Mahi, apples and spring mix) were crushed from being packaged too tightly. I contacted Imperfect Foods and they quickly reimbursed me for the damaged items.
As for what we purchased this time, the only items we wouldn’t order again were the garlic bread and the ground beef. None of us really cared for the taste of the garlic bread which has a very herby flavor. There were a couple of bones in the ground beef which can certainly happen no matter where you get ground beef but it was a big turn-off.
I plan to keep using this subscription food service! Although some of their items seem to cost a bit more than a grocery store, the quality is really good and you can’t beat everything being delivered right to your doorstep!
When I did need to speak with customer service, they were extremely helpful and fixed the problem quickly.
I’ve made so many great meals using what I purchased from Imperfect Foods and I can’t wait to see what new products they have each week for us to try out!
I’ll be receiving our third shipment next week and will keep you updated.
