With the holidays looking a little different this year (thanks COVID!), I’ve been busy looking for fun ways to make things extra special at home.
What better way to enjoy a cold, October evening than to have an indoor picnic by the fireplace and watch a Halloween movie?!
I made this dessert snack board one night for a living room picnic that we had while watching Ghostbusters. Kids (and adults!) love having different options to choose from…especially when it comes to desserts and candy!
A large cutting board or platter.
Fruit – I used black moon drop grapes and mandarin oranges. Other great options would be kiwi, green grapes, blackberries, cantaloupe, honeydew or blueberries.
Salty snacks – I used popcorn, Muddy Buddies and pretzels. Other great options are Goldfish crackers, Cheez-its or cheeseballs.
Candy – I used sour orange pumpkins, mini candy bars, black and orange Jordan almonds, gummy eyes and teeth, Nerds and Starburst.
I also used Rice Krispy Treats and mini dirt cups.
There are so many variations of items that you can use for this. Just choose an assortment of everyone’s favorite snacks!
I started by spacing out the containers I would be using. I placed the pumpkin container, dirt cups and cauldron on first.
Next, I spaced out the snacks that would require more room – the Rice Krispy Treats, mandarin oranges, Muddy Buddies, Oreos, etc..
Once I had all of the large items on, I filled in the open spaces with various candy bars and packaged candy.
I made sure to space out the colors so that there was variation throughout the board.
I hope you enjoyed this Halloween dessert board! Let me know how you are making this Halloween special for your little ones!
