What I remember most about the food in Greece was the freshness. Most everything that we ate was so fresh, just lightly grilled and absolutely delicious.
From whole grilled fish to kabobs to gyros, you really can’t go wrong with Greek food.
In this post, I’ll show you how I make a Greek Mezze Platter – best enjoyed with a glass of crisp white wine!
This is a great snacking platter to bring as an appetizer to a summer gathering or to have as the perfect light dinner.
For the chicken, I marinated bite sized pieces of white meat in olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper. I grilled it on wood skewers. At the same time, I grilled slices of Halloumi cheese.
I made it easy on myself and bought frozen falafel and spanakopita from Trader Joes.
For the farro salad, I made a simple dressing of red wine vinegar, Dijon mustard, olive oil, salt and pepper. I tossed the cooked farro with diced tomato, cucumber, red onion and the dressing.

Halloumi cheese
Feta (cut into bite sized cubes)
Falafel (homemade or store bought)
Hummus
Olives
Tzatziki (click here for my recipe)
Pita
Dolmas
Vegetables – I used tomatoes, cucumbers & radishes
Baklava
Spanakopita
Farro or Tabbouleh salad
First, I cook my frozen falafel and spanakopita according to the packaging.
While they are cooking, I grill my chicken skewers and halloumi cheese.
To assemble the platter, I place the larger items on the platter first. The bowl of tzatziki, hummus and the tomatoes went on first.
Next, I placed the hot items – the chicken skewers, falafel and grilled halloumi.
After, I filled in the empty spots with the vegetables, olives, pita, and garnished with parsley and a sprinkling of paprika.
I served the farro salad, spanakopita and baklava on the side.
