Boston is such a fun place to visit with children! Despite being a large city, it still has a small feel about it. It’s a perfect mix of history and fun to keep just about anyone in the family happy. In this post you will find my list of the best activities in Boston for children!

Here are my top activities in Boston for children and two hotels that I would highly recommend staying at on your trip!
This beautiful aquarium is located on the waterfront of downtown Boston. The entire aquarium is centered around a giant 4-story high, 200,000 ocean tank that is home to hundreds of sea creatures. You can easily spend hours exploring here but add even more time if you want to catch one of the IMAX movies or take a whale watching tour!
The line for tickets can get quite long so I would highly suggest purchasing your tickets ahead of time!

I was extremely impressed with this fun museum and so was my son! There are tons of fun things for kids to do and see. From art to dinosaurs to science labs to fort building – this place is every kids dream.
This Faneuil Hall Market first opened in 1826 as a meat, dairy and produce market. Today, you will find countless shops, retailers, food stalls and food carts throughout the three areas of the market – North Market, South Market and Quincey Hall.
Do not eat before you arrive, this is the spot for lobster, chowder, Boston Cream Pie and so much more!
Grab some chowder and have a picnic in the park. You will find plenty of green space, playgrounds and fresh air at the nations oldest public park. The park also has a carousel and don’t forget dry clothes – the frog pond wading pool is great for cooling down on hot summer days!
These amphibious vehicles are the best way to see historic sites with young children while keeping them entertained. Enjoy some sight seeing by land while driving around in these renovated WWII vehicles and then watch the surprise in your childs face as it drives right into the Charles River for a tour by water!
View lions, tigers, giraffes, gorillas and so much more at this 72 acre zoo that is open year round. On top of all of the neat animals you will see, you can also take a train ride, ride a carousel, or play on the 10,000 square foot playground.
By far my favorite stadium, no trip to Boston is complete without a visit to Fenway Park. If you are visiting while in season, get tickets to a game. Otherwise, tours of the park are available daily.
Checkout the Boston cityscape made of 1.5 million LEGOs, watch a LEGO movie in the 4D theater or ride one of the fun rides this center has to offer.
Whether your little ones are LEGO fans or not, they will have plenty of fun at this center.

If you are planning a trip to Fenway, you can’t beat this location. Literally a 2 minute walk to the park, this hotel also has an outdoor pool to enjoy year round. This rock and roll inspired boutique hotel even has record players in the rooms and an entire library of records in the lobby for you to enjoy during your stay.
We were looking for a hotel that was close to Fenway so we could go to a game without needing a stroller. This hotel allowed us to walk right across the street, have a drink or two during the game and then make the short walk back when the game was done. No stroller needed and it couldn’t have been more convenient!

This hotel also has a fantastic location at Boston’s Seaport and is just a short walk to the Children’s Museum and most other sightseeing in the heart of the city. They also have a fantastic rooftop lounge that can be enjoyed throughout the year.
The rooms have floor to ceiling windows, with many of the rooms having beautiful views of the city. The hotel has 136 rooms and suites that are decorated with a fun, fresh style with pops of color.
