Each year we have the traditional Easter egg hunt around the yard with the eggs being filled with various candy. Because they get so much candy from the egg hunt, I like to fills the Easter baskets with other (more practical) items.
I always like to make sure that there is a mix of inexpensive items with bigger items that they have been asking for. I also like to include practical items like toothbrushes, clothing, shoes and summer items that we will be able to use in the coming months.
Check out some of the ideas I have put together to help you create your Easter baskets this year!
These are my kids actual Easter baskets for this year! Since they have had to stay home for much of the last year (thanks to COVID19), we wanted to treat them to an activity. That being said, we will be spending Easter at the beach and then heading to the drive-in movie theater – two of their favorite activities!
Let’s be real, Harry Potter is a great theme for just about anything. Here, I used a tote bag from Harry Potter and the Cursed Child as the “basket”. Inside was the book Harry Potter – A Journey Through History of Magic, the complete set of blu-ray films, wand pen and a t-shirt.
I filled the basket in with various candies from the movies including chocolate wand, jelly slugs, Bertie Bott’s jelly beans, a chocolate frog and a chocolate bar ticket for the Hogwart’s Express.
There isn’t a Harry Potter lover out there that wouldn’t love this!

The options are limitless for a Disney themed basket since you can find so many Disney items at just about any store.
This basket contained a Moana backpack and pajama set (Pottery Barn Kids), a Toy Story pajama set (Pottery Barn Kids) and a puzzle (Dollar Store). I also included a Mulan Blu-Ray, a Wall-E book and a Winnie the Pooh Roo stuffed animal.
To fill the basket in, I used sour gummies (See’s Candies) and various other items such as Crayola bath paints, wooden Elsa doll, coloring books, puzzles, tissue packs, etc..

If you are looking to put together a classic Easter basket, here are a few ideas. For this basket I added a couple of books including Happy Easter, Little Critter and the Littlest Bunny in New York. I also added bunny ears and Peter Rabbit Blu-Ray.
I also added various chocolates, bunny straws (Walmart), a couple of small canvas’s for painting, a lamb stuffed animal (Pottery Barn Kids) and bunny sunglasses.

Because we deserve to get treats too!
I don’t know a single adult that wouldn’t like to get an Easter basket on Easter too. For this basket I added chocolates, a super soft UnHide blanket and good book (Untamed by Glennon Doyle). I also included fuzzy slippers and a bottle of peach vodka!

The dinosaur obsession in our house is still going strong. We live and breath dinosaurs around here so it would be only fitting to have a matching Easter basket!
This one contains a brachiosaurus stuffed animal, puzzle, the Flip-O-Saurus book and a Magic Schoolbus Volcano Science Kit. There is a roll of dinosaur coloring paper (IKEA), crayons, a Jurassic park t-shirt and bath bombs too. I found the dino egg candies at World Market.

For this basket, I added a couple of baseplates and an Easter model coloring/sticker book. There were also a couple of small LEGO sets, candy and bath soaps (Target). For the “basket” I used a LEGO storage container.
I hope you liked these ideas. Comment below and let me know what you like to include in your Easter baskets!
