DIY Halloween Treats For Kids

There are plenty of fun Halloween snacks that you can make for kids but what about Halloween treats that aren’t food? This post has a few ideas for DIY Halloween treats for kids!

This year, my son is in a class that has a few children with severe allergies. Because of that, the kids are unable to bring any food treats for their friends for holidays or birthdays. Instead, I had to get a little more creative with the treat he brings to school.

With so many kids having food allergies or sensitivities, gifting a nonfood item is a much safer option. On top of that, if you do any trick-or-treating on Halloween, chances are your kids already have plenty of candy!

The best part about all of these treats is that each cost less than $1.75 per person to make!

Here are a few ideas for Halloween treats for kids!

1. DIY Bracelet/Necklace Bead Tubes

For this treat I used bead tubes that I found in multipacks at the dollar store. I filled each tube with a mix of orange and black beads, skull beads and letter beads to spell out either ‘BOO!’ or ‘SPOOKY!’.

If you are able to hand them out to individual kids, you could also give them the proper alphabet beads to spell out their names.

I wrapped black jewelry making elastic on the tops on the tubes with a black bat that I cut out of cardstock.

2. DIY Ghost Wands

For this craft, each gift bag contained a yarn tassel, a piece of black felt, googly eyes, a wooden stick, beads, fuzz balls and various strings of yarn.

Each kid will get to personalize their very own ghost wand using the included items!

3. Spooky Kinetic Sand Kits

Fill a black, plastic cauldron with a small package of kinetic sand and various spooky items to use with the sand. I found eyeballs, snakes, spiders, pumpkins and glow-in-the-day skeleton hands that will all be great to play with.

This craft cost slightly more than the others because I purchased individual bags of scented kinetic sand. You could also find smaller containers of kinetic sand, Play-Doh or even slime to use with this treat as well!

4. Trick-or-Treating Glow Sticks

Kids love glow sticks and Halloween night is a great time for kids to have a couple for safe trick-or-treating. This treat is especially easy as it only requires a printable and a few glow sticks!

I hope you enjoyed these DIY Halloween Treats for Kids!
