Much like our traditional lobster boils that we love in New England, this is the spicy, Cajun twist. Seafood, smoked sausage, potatoes and corn all served with a spicy butter on the side for dipping!

Cajun boil has a kick to it! When cooking indoors, make sure to have a well ventilated kitchen otherwise the spices might make you cough. This dish is best to make outdoors.

You can serve this dish individually but it is the most fun when served family style in the middle on a table on some butcher paper. This way, every one gets to grab what they like and it’s interactive!

This meal gets messy! Because it’s meant to eat with your hands, this is a great meal to enjoy outside. Make sure to have plenty of paper towels and even wet wipes available.

It’s best served with some grilled slices of crusty bread – perfect for sopping up the delicious cajun butter!

How to Make

Begin by making the broth. For this, I add my Cajun seasoning (set aside 1 tsp. of this seasoning for your butter), onion, whole garlic cloves and salt to a large pot of water. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat, allowing to simmer for about 15 minutes.

Next, add your baby potatoes and allow to cook for at least 10 minutes or until they are almost completely cooked through.

While potatoes are cooking, melt your salted butter in a small pan and stir in 1 tsp. of the Cajun seasoning. Once melted, turn off heat and set aside.

Add your sausage and corn on the cob and allow to cook for another 5 minutes.

Lastly, add the shrimp and cook for an additional 2 minutes or until shrimp are pink. Make sure to not over cook.

To serve, drain all of your ingredients and serve them on a large serving tray. Serve with Cajun melted butter and crusty bread.
